Why this DNC Refuses to Release their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: A Deep Dive.

The action from the Democratic National Committee to block the public viewing regarding its internal post-election analysis concerning the 2024 election appears stunning yet to be expected. Averse to hard truths, the DNC often functions closer to a communications shop rather than an electoral entity committed to building a volunteer base capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Climate of Conformity

Reluctant to depart from the prevailing attitude of conformity, the DNC has continued within that legacy throughout this past year. Releasing such a report might have shown whether party leaders are interested to encourage public discourse regarding the strategic failures which allowed Donald Trump to return to the White House. Yet, the committee is acting as if there is little to understand following the tragic debacle from the last cycle.

"Here’s our North Star: is this good for winning elections? Should the answer be negative, it’s a distraction from the core mission," an explanation which was presented for withholding the analysis.

Major Failures a Report Might Have Examined

A genuine analysis of substance would confront key points of failure. These include:

  • Electoral Disengagement: Failing to retain among a significant portion of the electorate who voted for the party's candidate during the previous election was decisive during the tight recent race.
  • The Insistence to Run: The unwavering choice of a party leader to stay in the race, alongside a last-minute withdrawal, is seen by some as denying Democratic voters of a competitive nomination process.
  • Losing Touch With the Working-Class Base: Amid rising costs, the campaign is criticized for accommodating elite contributors while failing to challenge the role of big business.
  • A Foreign Policy Effect: An unwillingness to reconsider a stance concerning a major international conflict is cited as driving away significant blocs, especially with youth voters, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Losing Young Voter Allegiance: Polling data indicates a significant decrease of votes for the candidate among young voters.

A Pattern Avoiding Accountability

The decision to withhold is consistent with a recurring tendency of sidestepping hard truths. It recalls a situation where the vast majority of Democratic officeholder in Washington acquiesced to an incumbent's determination to running for re-election until a disastrous public debate performance led to an exit.

Concurrently, a significant majority of Democratic voters were continually telling surveyors that they opposed the incumbent to run again.

Financial Issues

A substantive report might also examine issues about financial allocations, such as the amounts flowed to insider consultants and ad buyers over the course of a campaign that managed to spend a colossal sum during the general election.

The Underlying Problem

Fundamentally, the suppression regarding the analysis is symptomatic of a submission toward the existing power structure that oversaw an unsuccessful electoral effort. The message for ordinary supporters – including millions of small donors – appears to be that they do not have a right to know the lessons party chiefs say they discovered from an analysis drawing from extensive interviews.

A political entity unwilling to honestly assess its own failings finds it difficult to break free from the cycle that proved so advantageous to the winning candidate.
